About Denise

Denise has been a force-free, positive reinforcement dog trainer and behaviourist since 2004. During this time she has helped to train well over 30,000 puppies and dogs. She's a bit obsessive about dogs, to be honest, but this is to your advantage.

During this time Denise also gained a B.Sc (Hons) in Applied Animal Behaviour and an MRes with distinction (Master's degree in research science) where she studied dog cognition and forensic psychology. Her research project was to teach dogs to be lie detectors!

Denise is a full member of the APBC (Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors) where she is registered as a Clinical Animal Behaviourist and TCBTS (The Canine Training and Behaviour Society) where she is registered as an Animal Training Instructor. Through her membership of the APBC and TCBTS she is regulated by the Animal Behaviour and Training Council. She had to pass a rigorous assessment process by experts in the field by demonstrating a high standard of knowledge and understanding as well as assessment of professional practice and a practical assessment.

Denise has been specialising in dog aggression and anxiety disorders for the last 15 years. During this time, she has noticed that many behaviour disorders could have been prevented as there were clear predisposong factors for the development of behaviour problems. If only owners had had more information earlier on, or had known more about the puppy they chose before they made the decision and could have focussed on certain areas of training and handling to prevent problems from developing. Sometimes even knowing that the dog had a medical condition could have helped to address the behaviour problem sooner.

Many clients have told her over the years they wish she could just plug a USB port in her head and download into their heads all that she knows. Life would be so much easier if she could.
